Ephesians 1:5,6 – Conversations with God
[Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ…] In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
This next blessing, Father, has confused many, but You call it a blessing and so should we. You predestined me in love to be Your adopted child through what Jesus did for us on the cross. Your picture of the greatest destiny You could think of for me was to be a part of Your family.
I concur. There is no greater privilege than being Your son. I want to be everything a good son should be. I want to be loving and respectful of You in all I do and declare with pride that You are my Father. I want to talk about how great Your love is and I want to be an exemplary child, imitating You with my life, inviting other, as I believe You would have me do, to join this family.
This blessing is definitely a kind intention on Your part and should bring due praise to Your grace, because I and all the others are so undeserving of being Your children. Nevertheless, You freely, generously, liberally, and without hesitation, bestowed this honor on us because of Your Beloved Son.
Not only do You love me, but He does, too, and went to the great lengths needed to rescue me and cover my debt. You love me as much as You love Him. That is the startling thing. May I never lose sight of that.
