Ephesians 2:10 — Conversations with God

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

To say that I am Your handiwork is to bring either shame or honor to Your name.  When I do not live according to Your love and mercy or according to Your purity and righteousness I bring shame to You.  It may even embolden those who look for an excuse to reject You.  Why should they believe in a God whose supposed representative lives a life no different from a wastrel?

When I live a life filled with the Spirit, loving people and walking in godliness, then I adorn Your name and take away one excuse, at least, for unbelievers to question Your existence and work among us.

But even when I fail to adorn Your name I am still Your handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works.  It has been Your purposeful goal to shape me into one who walks in love, performing good deeds commensurate with Your great love, mercy and grace.  If I fail that test, You do not cast me away, but continue chiseling away at Your new creation, Your rescued one, until my character looks more like the character of Your Son.

Your purpose will not fail in my life!
